Larger Remodeling Projects Trending Up-

May is when the flowers are all blooming, the temperatures are rising, and a large number of home shoppers are interested in buying. But the springtime housing market isn’t just for buyers and sellers.

This is the time of year when a large number of home owners are highly motivated to cross off a few items from their home improvement to-do lists.

According to a new survey of NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) remodelers released today to celebrate May’s National Home Remodeling Month the most common projects in 2016 still are kitchen and bathroom remodels. However this year, whole-house remodels and both large and small additions are gaining in popularity.

Here are some words of remodeling advice from NAHB professional remodelers:

Larry Abbott of Abbott Contracting says “If you feel your layout doesn’t suit your needs, for example if you have too many small unusable rooms, a possible solution may be an interior renovation to reconfigure the space. Don’t forget the unused garage or unfinished attic when reconfiguring your layout. Including these spaces can be a cost effective way to gain more usable space that works well for you and your family.”
